Colombia’s Capital Bogotá Finally Gets First Metro Line by 2028

In the streets of Bogotá, Colombia, construction of the city’s first metro line is finally visible, marking the end of over 80 years of delays, failed contracts, and denied budgets. This metro project, which began in 2021, is set to be completed by 2028 and features 30 trains and 16 stations. The elevated viaduct will cover 24 kilometers, dramatically improving the city’s public transportation and reducing travel times to just 27 minutes across nine localities.

Bogotá, one of the last Latin American capitals without a metro system, is now on the verge of a significant transformation. The new metro line is expected to ease the city’s notorious traffic congestion and offer millions of residents a sustainable, efficient transportation alternative.
