The San José galleon was a Spanish ship loaded with gold, silver, and other treasures that British warships sunk off Colombia’s Caribbean coast in 1708. Since then, it has been submerged in the sea, and more than 300 years have passed since the Colombian navy discovered the wreck site and the remains of the galleon 600 meters deep. All its treasure remains buried there, and the international dispute over who owns this underwater heritage continues.
